Professional Training
MBCT Professional Practice
Surpass the technical, and embody the practice
Who is this for?
The course is designed primarily for experienced health professionals from relevant disciplines (e.g., psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurses) who have attended an MBCT Course (see bottom of page) and want to deepen and extend their skills and application. It is designed to be a very supportive and structured learning environment.
What will you learn?
Learning the theory of mindfulness is easy, in this course you start to embody the practice of Mindfulness while teaching to your peers under supervision. You can:
- address issues of particular interest
- build confidence in the principles and teaching of meditations
- practise investigative dialogue
- receive feedback about your teaching
- receive professional supervision.
How does it work?
Liana Taylor is available as an experienced resource to you. Liana starts the session asking everybody what they would most like to gain from the next three hours. You can view some of their responses below.
Then in the context of the supervisory session Liana makes order out of what people need and arranges the session to answer any theoretical or applied questions that has been raised and coaches different people the meditations that they specifically want to teach. Participants will break up into pairs or threes to facilitate this.
During this 3 hours we will discuss the purpose and essential elements of each of the meditations. All participants will practise teaching two meditations to peers, have feedback, and ask questions of peers and the teacher. There will be light nourishing refreshments available during a short break.
The Professional Practice Advanced workshop is for people who have already done the first Professional Practice and/or have used MBCT in practice.
The Professional Practice Advanced workshop follows the same principles as the first Professional Practice, however participants want to develop their skills further, to teach the more complex meditations and to ask questions that have arisen during the exercises that they have been using in practice.
